Remote Wars: My Brother's Epic Fall"

So, this one time when I was about 14 years old, my older brother who was around 16 at the time, we'll call him Jack, decided that causing a little chaos in the house would be a fun idea. I guess that was his version of fun back then. You see, Jack and I had this constant ongoing sibling rivalry, the typical brotherly love-hate relationship. But this one particular incident, phew! It still cracks me up.

We were home alone, parents were out on their weekly grocery run. Jack, being the elder one, was "in charge" as per my Mom's words (which he took too seriously). He'd been hogging the TV remote all day and I was pissed. This was the time when 'Game of Thrones' was THE thing, and I was desperate to catch up on my missed episode, but no, elder brother had to watch his dumb football match.

Finally, I'd had enough. I walked up to him, demanding the remote. Predictably, a full-blown argument broke out. We were shouting and wrestling, Jack trying to keep the remote out of my reach, me trying to grab it. In the midst of all this, Jack had this bright idea. He decided to hide the remote on top of the family heirloom cupboard which was, like, 10 feet tall.

But here's the hilarious part. As he was doing so, he lost his balance and fell backwards, bringing down a couple of Mom’s beloved vases along with him. The sound was catastrophic. I remember standing there, frozen with shock and amusement, the grin on my face wider than the Grand Canyon.

When our parents got home and saw the mess, Jack, of course, tried to pin it on me. But thankfully, our neighbour Mrs. Jenkins had seen the whole incident from her window and came to my rescue. Jack ended up grounded for a month. I got the remote and control over the TV for the same duration. Sweet justice!

Till this day, this is the funniest memory I have of our sibling rivalry, and whenever we gather for family dinners, this story is a must tell. It never fails to make everyone laugh, even Jack, despite it being his embarrassing tale of defeat.

P.S: Just a little advice for all the elder siblings out there, never underestimate your younger sibs, and most importantly, never mess with the TV remote!
