**Prank Turns Disaster — The Salsa Spider Chaos

So, this happened last summer, and I still can't believe how badly a prank can spiral out of control. I saw a post about a “Prank Gone Wrong” that’s honestly one of the funniest, most awkward stories I’ve ever come across, and I just had to share my own experience because WOW.

I was hanging out with some friends at this house party, and someone had this idea to do that classic fake spider prank—like, 100% cliche but hey, it works if you don’t think too much. So, I decided to put a rubber spider on my buddy Steve’s chair while he was in the backyard smoking. We were all giggling, waiting for him to sit down and freak out.

Well, the prank worked… partially. As soon as Steve sat, he let out a *screech* like he'd been attacked by a bear, and everyone burst out laughing. But then, he suddenly jumped up, waving his arms around... and he *slipped*, right on a patch of wet grass. Before we knew it, Steve was flailing, falling backwards, knocking over a bunch of lawn chairs, and somehow spilling a full bowl of chips and salsa everywhere. It was honestly a scene from a comedy movie.

And then, to make things worse, this guy who was just walking past the porch saw the chaos and freaked out thinking something terrible was happening. He runs up, starts yelling, “Call 911! Somebody’s hurt!” because he actually thought Steve had **fallen** and maybe broken something. We’re all trying to tell him it’s just a prank, but he’s way too keyed up. So, he pulls out his phone, dials 911, and starts giving a very serious report about a “falling victim” at what is essentially a backyard party.

While all this was happening, Steve stands up, covered in salsa and grass, and looks around like he’s just realized his life is now a viral meme. The cops show up (which is common out here — people call because they see *anything*), and the whole yard is a mess. Turns out the guy who called 911 was an Uber driver passing by who *thought* it was a serious scene and didn’t bother listening to us shouting it was a prank.

Long story short, the cops end up questioning everyone, and we get a visit to the station — no tickets, no charges, just a lot of embarrassment and some very awkward apologies. Steve was furious but also laughing 5 minutes later because, honestly, it was so ridiculous. The funniest part? The fake spider fell into the salsa bowl, so that’s a *thing* now called “The Salsa Spiderman,” which we still joke about.

Now I know real stories about pranks going sideways are a thing, and honestly, it’s kind of a lesson: think twice before you pull that joke. Or at least make sure your buddy’s okay with being the *object* of the prank. Because chaos and a trip to the cops? Not worth it.
